Now that the Google Pixel Watch 3 is released, the lineup has undergone significant revisions even though it keeps the same look. From a distance, you may mistake it for a Pixel Watch 2, but now that you can choose between two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, you can.
The Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC for wearables, together with a similar set of sensors including an HR monitor, ECG readings, skin thermometer, and GPS, are all found inside the Pixel Watch 3. The UWB chip is the latest addition.
As a result, the Pixel Watch 3 is the first Android smartwatch with UWB connection, which makes it simpler to use Google’s Find My Device feature to locate the device in case you misplace it or unlock your phone. If your watch is equipped with this capability, it can also be used to unlock your automobile.
There is a small screen improvement. The displays on the 41 mm and 45 mm models can now reach 2,000 nits of peak brightness, a significant improvement over the 1,000 nit Pixel Watch 2 from the previous year.
The screen bezels, which are now a whole millimeter thinner, are possibly more obvious. The screen on the 41mm model remains 1.2 inches in size, but the 45mm version increases it to 1.4 inches.
The 45mm sports a 420 mAh cell, but the 41mm keeps the same 310 mAh battery as its predecessor. Interestingly, Google claims that the Pixel Watch 2 from last year would survive exactly 24 hours when the always-on display feature is turned on. However, we think the 45mm might be able to do more.
The new watch can reportedly charge 20% faster, indicating an improvement in charging.
You will be pleased to hear that the Pixel Watch 3 now supports Bluetooth LE Audio if you enjoy listening to music or podcasts on your watch while going for your morning run. This Bluetooth audio protocol is low-energy, meaning it requires less power to stream music. It’s also the first smartwatch for Android to have this feature.
Other capabilities that Google markets include enhanced running tracking, camera control on your Pixel phone, access to your Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell from your watch, and offline Google Maps navigation.
There are also some new elements for tracking your health available, such as a readiness score that evaluates your degree of recovery and indicates if you are ready for your next workout or if you require additional rest.
Matte Black Aluminum with an Obsidian strap and Polished Silver Aluminum with a Porcelain strap are the possible hues for both variations. While the 45mm has the option of Matte Hazel Aluminum with the same Hazel band, the 41mm also has the Champagne Gold Aluminum paint treatment with a Hazel band.
The 45mm Pixel Watch 3 with the same configuration costs $399, while the 41mm model with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi costs $349. The regular price is $100 more with LTE connectivity.
Prices for the LTE modem in the UK are £349/399 plus an additional £100, while in continental Europe, the cost is €399/€449 plus an additional €100 for the cellular version. Shipping begins on September 10 in all markets.
