According to CAD images that were obtained and uploaded in a video on the Chinese version of TikTok and tweeted by ShrimpApplePro, the next iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a unified volume button and a mute button.
The iPhone 15 Pro versions are anticipated to include a single elongated button for volume up or down adjustment rather than separate volume up and down buttons. The mute switch, which has been a part of the iPhone since its debut in 2007, is anticipated to be replaced with a mute button that can be used to turn the iPhone’s ringer on or off.
There are rumors that the volume and mute buttons are solid-state devices. Instead of really moving, the buttons would mimic movement with the help of two extra Taptic Engines inside the iPhone. similar to the Home button on the latest iPhone SE or the Force Touch trackpad on modern MacBooks.
Further CAD images in the video suggest that the basic iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will still feature two physical volume buttons and a mute switch. As usual, Apple will introduce the whole iPhone 15 series in September.
Related news includes an additional look at purported front glass panels for the iPhone 15 series from tech critic Sonny Dickson. Like the original leak, the images show that the Pro models will have thinner bezels around the display and that the Dynamic Island will be expanded to the standard iPhone 15 models.
It is expected that the iPhone 15 series will have improved camera features, with rumors suggesting that the Pro models will have a periscope telephoto lens. Additionally, there are speculations that the new iPhones may have a smaller notch or even no notch at all.
