Apple’s Beats brand was rumoured to be planning to release new colours of its Beats Studio Buds wireless earbuds last week, and the news has now been confirmed. Beginning tomorrow, Apple will sell Beats Studio Buds in new Ocean Blue, Sunset Pink, and Moon Gray hues for the same $149.99 retail price as the original colours.
Moon Gray will be unique to Amazon, Ocean Blue will be exclusive to Best Buy, and Sunset Pink will be exclusive to Target for customers in the United States who want to buy from places other than Apple. Other nations’ reseller possibilities will differ.

I’ve got the new beats studio buds on hand for a few days now to see how they appear in person, and the enlarged colour palette gives some great variations beyond the basic white, black, and red options that were available when they first launched last year.
Its interiors of the Ocean Blue and Sunset Pink cases, in particular, provide a bit more visual appeal than the generally monochromatic cases for other hues, with the Ocean Blue case being a light blue and the Sunset Pink case being a lavender purple. The Moon Gray case inside has a more minor shade change, appearing as a little darker grey than the earbuds and the rest of the case.
The launch is accompanied by a new video-game-inspired “Choose Your Player” advertising campaign featuring model Kaia Gerber and Olympic gold medalist freestyle skier Eileen Gu as avatars.
The beats studio earbuds have a stemless design as well as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency modes. Each earbud has a clickable button on the outside that can be programmed to control playback, phone calls, noise control modes, and Siri activation, however hands-free “Hey Siri” activation is also supported.
For an immersive audio experience, Basic Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos is enabled, albeit the Studio Buds lack the head tracking featured on certain other Apple earbuds, which may anchor sound to your device even as you move your head.
While the Beats Studio Buds lack an Apple H1 or W1 chip, they still provide Find My support, a one-touch connection, and a total of five microphones for high-quality phone conversations. The Beats Studio Buds come with three sizes of ear tips to accommodate most users, and a short USB-C to USB-C charging connection is supplied. The case does not enable wireless charging.
Beats is also introducing additional upgrades to the Beats App for Android, which will provide new capabilities to users of all Beats products compatible with the app, in conjunction with the debut of the new Beats Studio Buds colours. Android users can now locate their earphones, examine battery life information, and adjust listening modes directly on their handsets thanks to the addition of “Locate My Beats” and new widgets.
In that vein, you should be aware that both Amazon and Best Buy are presently selling the Beats Studio Buds at a $30 discount off the $149.99 retail price in all three “original” colours. We don’t want to discourage you from getting the blue, grey, or pink models, but… yes, that’s definitely a good idea.
