At Meta Connect 2022, Qualcomm revealed the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 Platform and Meta Quest Pro. Better heat dissipation and greater performance headroom have been established with the newly revised Snapdragon XR2+ platform package, resulting in 50% higher sustained power and 30% enhanced thermal performance1. Each Quest Pro has 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and ten high-resolution sensors, five within the headset and five outside, to improve a range of immersive experiences. The Snapdragon 662 Platform powers the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers, allowing them to self-track through numerous embedded positional cameras and provide ultra-low latency to the headset; when paired with face and eye tracking, your avatar can now more organically mirror you in VR.

“With our VR/MR devices, we’re constructing the next-generation computing platform at Meta.” “We think that virtual reality and augmented reality will radically alter where we work, interact, and communicate with one another.”  we’re excited to go on this adventure alongside Qualcomm Technologies,” said Mark Rabkin, Head of VR at Reality Labs, Meta. “The most recent generation of innovative Snapdragon technology is assisting us in providing substantially richer experiences in Meta Quest Pro by providing huge computational advantages in our VR form factor.” This demonstrates that Meta and Qualcomm Technologies are working together to develop the future now.”

Exciting Mixed Reality Experiments:

To enable enhanced full-colour video pass-through MR experiences, the Snapdragon XR2+ platform includes a new image processing pipeline with less than 10ms latency. Concurrent perception technologies like as head, hand, and controller tracking, 3D reconstruction, and low latency video pass-through are supported by the platform.

Through video pass-through, accurate motion tracking, and automated room mapping, seven concurrent cameras let the actual and virtual worlds merge into one all-encompassing MR experience. The platform’s high pixel density brings PC-quality virtual environments to life, while many sensors and cameras enable more lifelike avatars to have nuanced facial expressions.
