One of the phones from 2024 that has caught my attention is the Google Pixel 9 Pro. We now get our first up-close look at Google’s next flagship due to several leaked images. There’s a lot to process, as one might anticipate. The images were uploaded on Rozetked and attributed to an “anonymous source.” The Google Pixel 9 Pro is the device under consideration; it is anticipated to be positioned between the smaller Pixel 9 and the bigger Pixel 9 Pro XL.
The images validate the significant redesign, which included a new rear camera bar design, that we had previously seen in renderings that were leaked. The three back cameras, an LED flash, and what seems to be a temperature sensor—similar to the one on the Pixel 8 Pro—can all be seen plainly.
The metal frame of the Pixel 9 Pro has a glossy look, yet the rear of the device seems to have a matte texture. The images also provide us with a clear view of the phone’s SIM tray, speaker grille, and microphone, which surround the USB-C connector.
The power and volume keys are located on the right side of the phone, while the mmWave 5G antenna is located in the top frame. The phone’s bootloader screen, shown on a single Pixel 9 Pro image display, verifies that this model has 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is a significant upgrade above the 12GB RAM found in the Pixel 8 Pro.
Although I’m still not sure how I feel about Google’s Pixel phone’s new design, after seeing hands-on photos, I’m starting to warm up to it. It is different from the Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 variants, yet it still has that distinctive Pixel look. Though I won’t make a final decision until I touch the phone in my own hands, these pictures have given me a little more self-assurance.
Google I/O is almost approaching, so even if the Google Pixel 9 Pro isn’t expected to launch until later this autumn, there’s always a possibility Google will give us a little tease before then.
