A new leak confirms changes to the iPhone 16 design

While the iPhone 16 series is still a good few months away, there have already been a ton of leaks and space that leave little room for speculation. The most recent one confirms what we previously knew about the impending design adjustments to the whole iPhone 16 lineup.

Sonny Dickson, who previously provided images of all four iPhone 16 series dummy models on X (formerly Twitter), is the source of the leak. Interestingly, the leak was released just one day after the same individual claimed to have posted transparent covers for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

iPhone 16 dummy devices

We can extract some information from these dummies, such as the arrangement of the buttons, the design of the camera bumps, and the general size of the models about one another.

First off, the button arrangement appears to be consistent with previous leaks, one of which featured purported iPhone 16 CAD models and another set of fake devices. The left side of the dummies has three buttons: a tiny Action button above, and two that handle volume. According to this plan, the mute switch will be discontinued this year and the Action button will be added to all four models.

The power button and an odd, recessed, lengthy button nearer the bottom are located on the right side of the molding. This might be several things; some reports say it’s a specialized shutter button for the camera, but it could also just be the SIM tray, which has been cut in this manner to make it simpler for engineers to work with the dummy.

We may also attempt to estimate the relative sizes of the phones based on those images. We’re not sure about this unexpected size comparison, but it appears like the iPhone 16 Pro is marginally larger than the iPhone 16, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max is somewhat larger than the iPhone 16 Plus.

Last but not least, there is the camera bump issue, which appears to be genuine based on all the leaks that have been released thus far. It appears that the iPhone X will serve as the model for the completely redesigned camera bumps on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max sort of keep to the traditional square form but mix in the internal cameras, placing two of them vertically. That’s all the information we currently have, but additional iPhone 16 leaks should continue to appear online.
