Qualcomm unveiled its entry-level Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and midrange Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipsets. While the more affordable SD 4 Gen 1 remains on the 6nm node, the 6 Gen 1 is constructed using a 4nm manufacturing method. While the SD 4 Gen 1 will launch this quarter, the first SD 6 Gen 1-powered products are anticipated to appear in Q1 2023.
Beyond expectations, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 Mobile Platform offers brilliance, enabling dynamic experiences on all fronts. Your every move is empowered with bright capture, vibrant gameplay, and clever AI support. Additionally, broaden your connectedness to reach more people, while enhancing each encounter with colour and assurance.
Unfortunately, Qualcomm reserved the complete specifications of the CPUs, so all we know is that the SD 4 Gen 1 CPU has a 2.0GHz maximum while the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 main cores can reach 2.2GHz. Both devices have eight cores, but it’s unclear how their design and powerful/efficient ratios split down. The Adreno GPUs that were used are also not specified.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1
Everything Qualcomm provided was a 35% boost in graphics performance and a 40% increase in compute performance promise for the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, but it didn’t provide a benchmark. The CPU is 15% quicker and the GPU is 10% more potent on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. Since the firm presently doesn’t offer any other 400 chipsets, we infer that this comparison is to the Snapdragon 480/480+.
The 12-bit Spectra Triple ISP of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 supports 200MP cameras and native HDR picture capture. There are also HDR videos available. The chipset uses the 7th generation Qualcomm AI Engine to aid with the bokeh effect, overall performance, and energy optimization. This provides some sophisticated AI features.
Wi-Fi 6E connection and a Snapdragon X62 4th generation 5G modem are both included in the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 1
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 also makes use of Qualcomm’s AI Engine, however, it’s not the most recent version. With the addition of Variable Rate Shading, the new hardware can now handle 120Hz FHD+ screens.
You have the ability to maximise your favourite moment’s thanks to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 Mobile Platform. Take advantage of the day with powerful AI that facilitates natural and intuitive interactions. Additionally, get stunning capture packed with cutting-edge capabilities as well as quick connectivity to remain in touch—even while you’re on the move.
The Multi-frame Noise Reduction technique is used to reduce noise by the Spectra Triple ISP on the 4 Gen 1, which supports 108MP cameras. The Snapdragon X51 5G modem offers a 5G connection, although Wi-Fi 6E is not supported.
Before the close of this quarter, which is in three weeks, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 will make its debut on the new Z6 Lite smartphone from iQOO.
