This month, Samsung will start mass producing UFS 4.0

After the release of UFS 3.0 a few years ago, Samsung is currently preparing to move to the UFS 4.0 storage standard. In line with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, the business declared today that the mass manufacture of its first UFS 4.0 mobile storage modules would begin this month.

The UFS 4.0 storage standard was first introduced by Samsung in May. The company verified that it is now preparing to mass-produce UFS 4.0 storage chips and would start the conveyor belts before the end of the month. Fast forward to the present. Both Samsung’s production capacity and any potential UFS 4.0 customers were kept under wraps.

Samsung has announced that UFS 4.0 will (eventually) be utilised in VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality) devices in addition to smartphones. Returning to the mobile industry, our sources indicate that the next Galaxy Z Fold 4 may have a 1TB option. Though it’s unclear at this point whether everything will be based on UFS 4.0, the device should also be available with 256GB and 512GB of built-in RAM. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will be unveiled by Samsung on August 10 at Unpacked and will be on sale a few weeks later. In Q1 2023, the Galaxy S23 lineup is anticipated to be revealed.
