Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. has launched the Qualcomm Networking Pro Series Gen 3 family of platforms, which supports Wi-Fi 7. The Qualcomm Networking Pro Series, Gen3 is the world’s highest performance Wi-Fi 7 network infrastructure platform portfolio commercially available, and it’s now sampling and access to worldwide development partners. The products combine Wi-Fi 7 features with Qualcomm Technologies’ intelligent multi-channel management technologies to improve speeds, lower latency, and improve network utilisation for users of Wi-Fi 6/6E devices while offering game-changing throughput and incredibly low latency for the next generation of Wi-Fi 7 client devices, building on the multi-generation legacy of the Qualcomm Networking Pro Series platforms.
Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and now 7 have all arrived in quick succession for many users. Wi-Fi 7 is the pinnacle of a formidable collection of capabilities destined to alter wireless communication when considered as a rising crescendo of capabilities supplied by standards organisations, regulators, and technology vendors.
Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series
Wi-Fi 6 focused on multi-user technologies like OFDMA and MU-MIMO to give large quantities of data capacity. Wi-Fi 6E then applies these current capabilities to a new, greater region of unlicensed airwaves, with wider and more numerous channels. As a result, Wi-Fi 7 focuses on boosting performance – specifically, for ultra-low latency, extremely high throughput, and ever-higher capacity through the most efficient use of spectrum – with a massive increase in devices sporting high performance, stable connections and a new, wider spectrum available to service them. These are the features that will power tomorrow’s real-time collaboration gaming, streaming, video sharing, and augmented reality apps.
The key features of Wi-Fi 7 have already been covered. Support for 320MHz channels and skilled implementation of Multi-Link technology are essential for Wi-Fi 7 networks to achieve huge performance benefits.
Qualcomm Networking Pro Series systems have offered next-generation Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and 7 features with each version. The potent mix of high-performance architecture and flexible scalability to span design demands distinguishes this family of platforms as the gold standard in professional-grade networking – with over 275 design wins across every major OEM and market.
In our Wi-Fi 7 portfolio, that pedigree is on the full show once more. Qualcomm Technologies’ strategy is to provide adaptable solutions that enable all high-performance feature implementations with common software on a freshly developed architecture, continuing our tradition of delivering quick time-to-market for a variety of connectivity networking solutions.
Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series platforms support 320MHz operation in all configurations, from 6-stream to 16-stream. Furthermore, they all support both simultaneous and alternating Multi-Link modes. When linked to Qualcomm FastConnect 7800-based Wi-Fi 7 devices, Simultaneous Multi-Link in high-band channels (HBS Multi-Link) enables tremendous capacity, reliability, and exceptionally low latency — a critical differentiator for next-generation smartphones, PCs, XR gadgets, and more. With these features, tri-band Wi-Fi 7 becomes the new standard, with quad-band options available at the premium tier.
With wireless bandwidth up to 33 Gbps*, the Wi-Fi 7 feature toolkit and Qualcomm Networking Pro Series architecture work together to set new industry norms for networking performance. Third-generation Qualcomm Networking Pro Series platforms will allow 10 Gbps backhaul for business and household mesh Wi-Fi systems, which was previously thought to be unfeasible via wireless networks. These systems enable comprehensive corporate and personal connectivity solutions when combined with 5G fixed wireless access, 10G-PON fibre, and sophisticated cable protocols.
Finally, third-generation Networking Pro Series systems enable Qualcomm AFC Solution for improved 6GHz performance both indoors and outdoors. The Qualcomm AFC Solution is a complete package that includes network hardware, software, and fully supported cloud administration. Qualcomm Technologies is at the forefront of Wi-Fi innovation, developing standards and technologies to meet the needs of our customers. We take the lead in finalising Wi-Fi 7, working closely with IEEE and WFA members.
