One of the advantages of buying a Pixel phone is that with Feature Drops, your phone becomes more and more useful. We’ve got an update for you, whether you want to fast access Snapchat from your Pixel’s lock screen or check the bass levels on your Pixel Buds A Series.
Pixel can do more with Snapchat, a smart vehicle key, and ultra-wideband.
You can already customize the actions your Pixel takes while using Quick Tap, from taking a screenshot to playing music. With Quick Tap to Snap, you can log into Snapchat right from the lock screen, making Pixel the fastest phone to take a Snap. Tap to Snap is available for all Pixel 4a phones with 5G or newer Pixel. Plus, starting this month, you’ll be able to add a new Pixel-exclusive lens, Pixel Face, to your Snaps.
Look for more Pixel exclusive lenses in the future Drops. As you have seen from our Android friends, we have partnered with BMW to activate the Digital Car Key for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. On select BMW 20202022 models in some countries you can now unlock and lock your car by pressing your phone on the door handle and you can start your car by placing your Pixel on the interior key reader and pressing the engine start button. And ultra-wideband is now enabled on the Pixel 6 Pro. This technology enhances nearby sharing so you can quickly and securely send files, videos, location maps, and more to other ultra-broadband devices nearby.
Customize your gadgets
Conversation mode, a beta version of the Sound Amplifier app’s early-stage accessibility functionality, is now available on Pixel. This feature uses on-device machine learning to aid anyone in hearing talks in noisy surroundings by focusing on their conversation partner while filtering out background noise. While Google Research continues to work on conversation mode, you can get a sneak peek and help make it better for everyone by volunteering to be an early tester.
In the spirit of music, we’ve increased the bass-level control on the Pixel Buds A-Series. You can now modify bass from -1 to +4 using a slider in the Pixel Buds app on any Android 6.0+ smartphone, giving you double the bass range you presently have.
We’ve also expanded our wallpaper collection. We teamed with Dana Kearly, a handicapped interdisciplinary artist from Vancouver, B.C., to develop three gorgeous new wallpapers for the Curated Culture collection in honour of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Detection and recording of car accidents
In addition to Spain, Ireland, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and the United States, car collision detection is now available in Taiwan, Italy, and France. Your Pixel 3, Pixel 4, or newer Pixel phone can help determine whether you’ve been in a serious automobile accident when car crash detection is set on in the Personal Safety app. Whether your phone detects an accident, it will contact you to see if you’re okay. Pixel can communicate your position and other essential data with emergency responders if there is no response. (This capability is reliant on network connectivity and other variables, and it may not be reliable or available in all regions for emergency communications.)
In addition, as auto collision detection expands to new nations, the Recorder app now supports new languages for transcription. On Pixel 3 and subsequent Pixel phones, they include Japanese, French, and German.
