Leadership from Reality Lab at Meta will be there, as well as a few special guests, to demonstrate our work in making the metaverse a reality. We celebrated Meta Quest Pro phenomenal success, explored how virtual reality is becoming more social, and featured advances in fitness, gaming, and work. We also unveiled Meta Quest Pro, a game-changing gadget that brings the physical and digital worlds closer together.
Meta Quest Pro is now released
We’ve revealed a few pieces of information regarding our next VR gadget, Project Cambria, in recent years. We’re ditching the codename and releasing Meta Quest Pro today. This high-end headset will be on sale on October 25 for $1,499.99 USD. Meta Quest Pro may be pre-ordered at meta.com.
The Meta Quest Pro is the first in a new range of powerful headgear designed to broaden the capabilities of virtual and mixed reality. Its pancake lenses bend light over many times, lowering headset size while providing crisper views. A redesigned, curved battery on the rear contributes to Meta Quest Pro being a more balanced and ergonomic headset in general.
Meta Quest Pro is our first full-colour mixed reality gadget, thanks to high-resolution outward-facing cameras that collect 4X as many pixels as Meta Quest 2. Consider the potential of the physical and digital worlds can connect without you craning your neck to gaze down at your phone.
It’s also the first headgear we’ve created with inward-facing sensors for authentic facial expressions and eye tracking. Raising a brow, smiling, or even making eye contact with someone will cause your avatar to do the same. All of this contributes to increased social presence – the sense that you are right there with someone, no matter where you are in the globe.
New Collaborations to Advance the Future of Work
Meta Quest Pro was created with productivity in mind and will be a significant advance for individuals who use virtual reality as a tool for work, but hardware is only one component of the equation. We are equally committed to developing and supporting software that enhances the way you operate.
Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella joined Mark in announcing a new collaboration that will bring powerful new work and productivity tools to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 next year, including apps for Microsoft Windows 365 and Microsoft Teams, as well as the ability to join a Teams meeting from within Meta Horizon Workrooms.
Controllers For Self-Tracking
You may have noticed that the controllers in Meta Quest Pro differ from the ones in Meta Quest 2—these are our brand-new Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers! They have a significant new feature: Each controller has three built-in sensors that detect its location in 3D space independently of the headset, allowing you a full 360-degree range of motion. This guarantees consistent tracking across all of your VR apps.
The controllers have been redesigned to be more ergonomic and balanced, creating the impression that they are natural extensions of your hands. They also have updated haptics, which use our new TruTouch Haptics technology to deliver a broader and more precise range of feedback, as well as rechargeable batteries. With the charging station and With the 45W USB-C power adapter included with Meta Quest Pro, you can keep both your headset and controllers charged and ready to play.
