AMD Ryzen PRO 7000 series processor unveiled

AMD unveiled its new Ryzen 7000 Pro series CPUs, based on the 4nm manufacturing node and the Zen4 architecture. The Ryzen 7000 Pro series, which is built on the AM5 platform and requires DDR5 memory, was released less than a year after the Ryzen 5000 Pro. Additionally, PCIe Gen5 is now supported by the updated 7000 series.

The Ryzen 9 PRO 7945, 12C/124T, Ryzen 7 PRO 7745, 8C/16T, and Ryzen 5 PRO 7645, 6C/12T, all belong to the PRO 7000 series and are designed for corporate PCs. They can all run at speeds of up to 5.4 GHz. All chips have a 65W clock speed.

The company also unveiled the Ryzen 7040 Pro series, which is intended for ultra-thin business laptops, in addition to the desktop chips. Three “HS” and three “U” CPUs make up the 7040 Pro series; the former is rated at 35–54W while the latter is rated at 15–28W.

The flagship Ryzen 9 Pro 7940HS features 8C/16T and clock speed up to 5.2 GHz, while the low-powered U series has the same configuration but boosts to 5.1 GHz and has much slower base clock speeds of 3.3 GHz. The mobile series of processors receives the RDNA 3 GPU, whereas desktop chips use RDNA 2 integrated graphics.

The Ryzen 7000 Pro lineup offers a variety of security and privacy features, including AMD’s Shadow Stack, Microsoft Pluton, AMD Memory Guard, and Secure Processor, as it is primarily intended for business use.
