Apple iPhone 14 could be stuck with a lower-quality display

Apple normally uses the same processor in all of its phones, but that might change this year. Last week, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicated that only the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro models will get a new processor, while the other two varieties would employ the A15 Bionic engine that powers the iPhone 13 series and the newly released cheap device, the iPhone SE 3. According to a recent leak, the display will be another distinguishing feature.

The essential specs for the iPhone 14 range have been tweeted by @Shadow Leak, who has yet to show his worth as a source but has gotten certain leaks correct in the past. He confirms reports concerning screen sizes, basic RAM, and chipsets that have been floating around.

Apple Iphone 14 Could Be Stuck With A Lower-Quality Display

To summarise, the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max will both be powered by the A15 Bionic processor, while the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max will be powered by the rumoured A16 Bionic processor, which will allegedly be based on the slightly more advanced 4nm manufacturing process, making it faster and more power-efficient.

Shadow Leak states that only the Pro versions will feature the LTPO panel, which allows for a variable refresh rate, confirming what several reputable insiders have indicated. That means the normal models will have 60Hz panels, while the Pros will have 120Hz screens, allowing for smooth scrolling and seamless display transitions.

According to reports, the base RAM will be increased from 4GB to 6GB, but only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would have the latest LPDDR5 technology.

In related news, Kuo has disclosed further specifics about Apple’s rumoured intention to exclusively include the A16 Bionic in Pro versions. The decision was first thought to be related to a supply shortfall, but Kuo believes it is more of a “marketing/finance-oriented choice.”

He hasn’t specified whether the cost savings would be passed on to customers, so all we can do is hope. With a reduced starting price, the iPhone 14 and 14 Max might become one of the finest budget flagships of the year.

The iPhone 14 Pro will be larger than the iPhone 13 Pro in terms of thickness

According to previous claims, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would ditch the notch in favour of pill and hole cuts, and leaked CAD-based renderings imply that’s about the only cosmetic change we can expect except a slightly taller design and bigger camera bumps.

The notion that these will be fully revamped versions with a flat camera island and circular volume controls was debunked as a result of this.

The camera bulge on the Pro will be roughly 20% greater than the existing versions, according to fresh images supposedly based on CAD data from Android Police’s Max Weinbach uploaded by @aaple lab. This is reportedly due to the new 48MP primary sensor, which is likely to be larger than the 12MP module it replaces.

The 14 Pro will reportedly be 12.2mm thick, which is around a millimetre thicker than the 11.3mm iPhone 13 Pro.
