The new solution is EMVCo and Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level (CC EAL) 6+ certified and delivers performance that meets Mastercard’s latest BEPS (Biometric Evaluation Plan Summary) specifications for biometric payment cards. “The S3B512C combines a fingerprint sensor, Secure Element (SE) and Secure Processor, adding an extra layer of authentication and security to payment cards,” said Kenny Han, VP of LSI System  Marketing at . Electronics. “The S3B512C is primarily designed for payment cards, but can also be used in cards that require highly secure authentication, such as student or employee identification, registration, or building access.

The new IC has a patented fingerprint authentication algorithm and a Secure Processor that extracts and analyses the unique features of the fingerprint put on the sensor to safely and reliably authenticate the user’s identification. Furthermore, the chip’s anti-spoofing technology stops unauthorised users from bypassing the security system by using illegitimate means like fake fingerprints.
