WIPO patents Samsung rollable or sliding display phone with S Pen support

When it comes to foldable smartphones, Samsung is the undisputed leader. Since the original Galaxy Z Fold, the South Korean company has released other folding smartphones in India and other regions.

It also tried with several display form factors, such as the sliding and roll-up screens mentioned previously. It looks like the company is finally releasing a new smartphone with a rollable or sliding screen. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has granted Samsung a patent for a phone with a roll-up or slide-out screen.

The photos show the next Samsung smartphone’s likely folding mechanism. Let’s take a look at the patent images of the Samsung roll/slide phone leaked online.

WIPO for Samsung’s slidable/rollable smartphone

WIPO has granted Samsung a patent for a multi-slot smartphone. The technology contains two slots, according to the patent description. On the left edge is the motor that allows the roll-up screen to go in and out.

The S Pen cutout is still visible on the rear panel, which holds part of the sliding display. Another module is visible above the S Pen, which might be for the camera sensors. The photos show that the device’s right edge will be utilised as a tiny screen to display alerts or open apps on the front. Samsung will soon release new editions of its Galaxy A series volume drivers, in addition to the Galaxy S22 series. With the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, the successful mid-range model gets a successor. We have official photos and some technical data in advance.

The Samsung Galaxy A53 is the successor to the most successful Samsung smartphone in years in terms of the number of units. There are some subtle improvements, but as usual, nothing major. The case is all plastic on the outside and will come with a relatively large display bezel compared to the flagship S22 series models. The Moto Edge 30 Pro is likely to be released internationally and in India at the end of this month. It’s a name change from the Moto Edge X30 which debuted in China in December and comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset.

The design is identical to the Moto Edge X30, which confirms that it is indeed a rebrand. it should maintain similar specs to the Chinese model. Motorola Edge 30 Pro has a centre cutout for the selfie snapper, slim bezels, and flat edges.

Microsoft Surface Duo has been spotted running Windows 11 on an ARM64 platform

We reported earlier this month that Microsoft has finally released the Android 11 OS upgrade for its dual-display smartphone, the Surface Duo. But while the official build seems to be behind the overall mobile market, it seems that an unofficial build is up to date with the PC market.

According to an IT Home report, developer Gustave Monce of the main LumiaWoA project shared images of a Surface Duo running on Windows 11 based on the ARM64 system. Gustave has already adapted the Windows 10 operating system on Microsoft’s Lumia 950XL smartphone. Similarly, he had also managed to port Windows 11 ARM on the dual-display smartphone as well. Now, it seems that the project has seen further progress as it is running on Windows 11 ARM64 system.

Because Microsoft has officially discontinued support for Windows 10 mobile, the WoA developers have been able to enable older Lumia phones to obtain updates and even refresh their whole operating system. These developers are an independent group that has been working on the unofficial Windows on ARM project for the last year years.

The project was previously centred on Windows 10, but now that Windows 11 has been released, they are now working on the newer operating system. The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G phone is scheduled to be released in the following months. The phone has already been spotted on the Geekbench database and 3C certification websites. The Apple iPhone SE 2022 is a concept design for a low-cost 5G phone

The camera specs are the same as you’ll find on the Galaxy S22. The battery will charge quickly at 45W and Samsung claims that it will take an hour to fully charge the phone’s battery from 0% to 100% and the Galaxy S22+ case will contain the phone, a USB to USBC cable and a SIM key.
